COMMUNITY SUPPORT ENABLES BREAST CARE, CLOSE TO HOME

As recently reported, Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital (SMGH) has successfully completed their transition from Ontario Breast Screening Program to an accredited Breast Assessment Program.  This is great news for women in the area, who will now be able to receive comprehensive, high-quality, multi-disciplinary assessment services “close to home”.

In order to provide this enhanced level of care, new and improved technology was required.

“Thank you to each and every one of our generous donors who made contributions to the Breast Assessment Program Campaign,” says Susan McLean, SMGH Foundation CEO.  “Without your support it would not have been possible to fund the necessary mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy equipment required for this program.”

The SMGH Foundation Breast Assessment Program (BAP) Campaign also provided funding for a Breast Health Navigator, who is key to the program by providing information and emotional support to patients.  A BAP Endowment Fund was also established, which will ensure that the cost of future equipment upgrades, maintenance and training.
